The Upcycle Center

Coming to Brooklyn in Oct 2024 and Manhattan in Dec 2024

An innovative pop-up experience by Brooklyn artist Nina Boesch and Manhattan writer Darla Decker, The Upcycle Center will introduce and build alternative ways of thinking about what is considered waste. Using a cradle-to-cradle philosophy (design everything with the next version of the product in mind), The Upcycle Center will offer bins and bins full of vintage magazines, still beautiful used greeting cards, old packaging and shipping materials, and the tools needed to transform these materials into their next iteration, their next life.

This fun and free experience will help transform participants into environmentalists, artists, and activists. We can all learn to waste nothing, learn to buy less.

The Upcycle Center provides easy entry for all ages into what might be perceived as an intimidating space—the makerspace. But everyone can be a maker; everyone was once a five-year-old who loved to draw! The Center can help you rediscover your inner child.

The Upcycle Center is currently in its funding phase. Nina Boesch and Darla Decker are actively seeking funds to make the Center become a reality with its first public engagement event planned for Oct 11-13, 2024 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and a second event for Dec 6-8, 2024 in Manhattan.
